Romiley District Centre Improvements consultation launched

Stockport Council, through the Mayor’s Cycling and Walking Challenge Fund (MCF), has applied for funding to improve Romiley Village Centre, in particular by reducing traffic speeds, improving cycle facilities and providing better crossing points of the main road and at side roads.

This Crossings Package proposal has considered the responses to the large-scale engagement exercise recently undertaken on Romiley Active Neighbourhood, and will complement any proposals that may be taken forward by such a scheme.

The Romiley Village Centre proposals include:

  • A series of new and improved crossings and junctions, including Stockport Road / Compstall Road and side roads; and
  • A 20mph speed limit through the village supported by traffic calming measure
  • Detailed scheme descriptions and drawings, can be found on our Consultation Pages.

By following that link, you can also have your say on the proposals.

Please note these proposals, if approved and built, would replace the temporary ‘Safe Streets Save Lives’ measures recently introduced in the village.

More information about the temporary measures and wider MCF project is provided on our dedicated Walking and Cycling pages on our website.

Stockport Council will not reply to all individuals but, as with the Active Neighbourhood engagement exercise, will collate, analyse and consider all responses received and the feedback from the consultation will be used as part of the decision-making process prior to any implementation.

If you have any questions about the proposals, please do not hesitate to contact the team on 0161 474 2299 or at romileycrossings@stockport.gov.uk
